Repro (sandbox):
* Place 3 Vultures and, say, an Atlas B
* Leave one Vulture alone, weaken one's back armor to ~50%, weaken one's back armor to ~0%
* Fire one HGauss at the back of each Vulture

Observation: this leaves all 3 Vultures with no back armor and the same c.torso health (just over none).
Expectation: the full-health Vulture loses little c.torso health (as the back armor absorbs almost all of it). Similarly, the half back health Vulture loses some c.torso health.

There are other implications, such as an Uller (or any light Mech) surviving an HGauss to the torso, but being killed instantly when shot in the shoulder or back. Examining a Hollander II (or Shadowcat, the current bugged MKii), there is a threshold shoulder HP value (namely, 3100 +/- 1) on one side of which an HGauss to the shoulder will only (essentially) destroy the shoulder with no damage to c.torso, but one HP lower and the entire Mech will be instantly destroyed. In general, this threshold will be the difference between inflicting 3100 damage and 3100+9300=12400 damage.

(I would imagine this applies for damage from all weapons, though this will only be significant for large-packet weapons such as gauss, fbomb, tbolt, artillery, c8, ac10, ac20, arrow.)

Seriously... there should be time when I don't post anything.

Anyway - I encounter that back in first talks with weapons damage, and always thought it's the way it should be, not the bug. Especially after seeing some battletech graphs regarding damage transfer. It's cool though that it's a bug - killing mechs will be more difficult which is always a good thing :)

Perhaps, but getting one-shotted out of a light isn't much fun. It's been known for a while that something funny was going on, so it probably wouldn't have remained unsolved forever...
