Crysis Engine not detected during setup
« on: February 25, 2012, 02:08:40 AM »
I paid 30 dollars through steam to install crysis just to play this game and there are no files in the crysis directory for the installer to look at. But the game is installed.

Also the images are so damn unreadable that it takes me about 5 trys before i get one that i can read.

Please make sure you're installing Crysis Wars, and not Crysis.

What images are you referring to?

check your folder destination buddy.  if steam installed it, it's going to be under steam/steamapps/games... something like that.

Strange, you should be able to point the MWLL installer to the correct directory, as seen here:

Perhaps you somehow got an older installer? The newest version for the main installer is 0.5, which you should be getting from http://www.mwlldownload.com/

Alternatively, it is possible to install MWLL manually:

Manual Install Guide:

Create a GameSpy (NB: Please make sure that you can log in and out of the account that this may influence on how Crysis Wars behaves)

Install Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=22

Install Crysis Wars
Update Crysis Wars to Patch 1.5 (1.1.1.6729): http://www.crytekfiles.com/files/CrysisWarsPatches/CrysisWars_patch5.exe
Install the latest PunkBuster for CrysisWars: http://www.pbbans.com/forums/files/file/52-crysis-wars-windows/

Verifying CD-Key and Creating a Profile in Crysis Wars
 Select Multiplayer > Internet > Enter your CD-Key > Create an Account (check "Remember password" if wanted)
 Select Profile > New Profile > Save (NB: This will create your Profile folder etc., in Documents/My Games/Crysis Wars/)
 Connect to a PunkBuster protected server to verify your CD-Key successfully.

Install Visual C++ Redistributals according to your OS architecture:
  Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x86): http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=3387
  Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package (x64): http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=21254
  Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 RP ATL Security Update: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=26347

Extract MWLL-OpenBeta-Full-0.5.0.zip to Crysis Wars/Mods/MWLL. (The Mods and MWLL folder needs to be create locally before extraction)
Extract the latter Patches over the existing Build.
Create a link to the MWLL.Launcher located in the root folder of MWLL.

I bought and installed crysis wars. Since i cannot modify the installer to point it at the steam directory where the crysis executable is the installer does not detect i have the engine installed.

I had that err at one time and only way was to manually extract the build (the initial MWLL-OpenBeta-Full-0.X.0.zip) to Crysis Wars/Mods/MWLL/, afterwards utilizing the "update" function via the MWLL.Launcher could be applied.

Is your Crysis Wars patched via STEAM? You can manually check if Crysis is updated by RightClick the Crysis.exe (located in Crysis Wars/bin32/) and select the tab "Details", the version should read 1,1,1,6729.

The autoinstaller should register where Crysis Wars have been installed. If any attempt to point the autoinstaller towards Crysis Wars/bin32/Crysis.exe fails, manual installation may be the path you need to take. But as said initially you may try and see if the initial Full install of 0.5.0 can be updated via the MWLL.Launcher, though iirc the latest MWLL Tools 0.12.1128.248 and .NET framework are needed in order for this to work. Remember to check "Keep downloaded files" if updating via the MWLL.Launcher.

Steam does apply the newest patch automatically on install.
